skin-problemsNo one likes it when they are getting ready for work or a night on the town and suddenly they notice a pimple on their face. Or what about those pesky freckles or age spots that cause imperfections in that perfect look you would like to have?

Skin problems are something that many people deal with every day whether something minor like a pimple or two or something major like scarring. Here are the top 10 most common skin problems and some of the ways to treat them:

1. Dull, Dry, Flaky Skin:

As people get older and their skin starts to age, the body starts to shed less dead skin cells. This causes dull and lifeless looking skin. The key to treating it is through exfoliation with sloughing micro-beads or by using a chemical form of exfoliate such as glycolic acid or retinol. You will also need a moisturizer to get the area rehydrated.

2. Brown Spots:

Brown skin spots, otherwise known as freckles, sun spots or age spots can show up on the skin. One of the best products to fade these brown spots is a prescription strength hydroquinone cream. Otherwise, look for over the counter products that contain ingredients such as Vitamin C, kojic acid, licorice extract, and arbutin to lighten pigmentation.

3. Whiteheads

Whiteheads are a type of acne and need to be treated with a product containing the ingredients of benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. This helps to dry up the blemish and get rid of the skin inflammation. Be sure not to pick at it as this will only make it get worse.

4. Cystic Acne:

A much more serious form of acne is called cystic acne, which are painful bumps that form under the top layer of the skin. Don't pop them, as it makes them worse. They may require a dermatologist to prescribe oral antibiotics or cortisone shots.

5. Blackheads:

Blackheads are skin pores clogged up with oils and dead cells. Use an exfoliate, as well as a cream with retinoid, salicylic acid or a  special
cleansing mask designed to clean deep the skin pores to treat and prevents blackheads.

6. Chapped Lips:

Chapped lips are caused by the lips getting dehydrated. Licking them only makes it worse. Instead, use chapstick or a petroleum ointment to prevent and treat them.

7. Very Large Skin Pores:

Oily skin and getting older can cause very large skin pores. Make them smaller through exfoliate products, as well as skin toners, which get rid of the excess oil and close up the pores. If it is caused by aging, you will have to get laser treatments to shrink the pores or find a way to prevent the loss of collagen.

8. Acne Scars:

Serious forms of acne or mistreatment of it can cause scars.  Some scarring can be lightened or removed via laser treatments or special creams can be used to lighten scars. It takes several months of treatments to get rid of a scar.

9. Dark Circles:

Too much pigmentation or blood vessels close to the skin's surface are two causes of dark circles under the eyes. Too much pigmentation is usually genetic, which is treated with retinoid or hydroquinone creams and laser treatments. If it is blood vessels causing the dark areas then you will need to treat the area with a vasoconstriction product. One such ingredient to look for in your eye cream is caffeine.

10. Oily Skin:

If your skin has too much oil in it, then you need to be sure not to jump to conclusions and use a lot of dying type products. While you can use cleansers for oily skin, you also need to balance this with a hydrating type of cream.
Many people suffer from skin problems every day and are looking for ways to treat their conditions. If you are suffering from one of the above skin problems, these ideas will get you started in treating them, but you should also get some advice from a dermatologist or a medical doctor.

My worst skin problem is psoriasis. Unfortunately, no way to get rid of it forever, just things to manage it.

There is only one recognized method of permanent hair removal. That method is electrology, other methods claim to be permanent hair removal methods, but in reality they are merely hair reduction methods. The difference might seem insignificant, but it is important to know the difference.
