benefit-of-sun-exposureSun is the main source of energy on earth. The light rays coming to the earth are utilized by plants, and in turn, they make organic compounds like sugar. When we consume theses Sugar, our body cells converts it back to energy. But the sun rays coming to the earth contain ultraviolet(UV) radiation.

These UV radiations have some deleterious effect on our skin if exposed for a long period. At the same time, sun rays are the primary source of Vitamin D production in the body which is extremely valuable for our body functions. Ultraviolet Radiation:

Sun rays coming to the earth comprise of several wavelength and energy level. UV rays are the specific band of full sun rays which contains high energy and short wavelength. UV rays are further divided in three groups known as UV-A, UV-B, UV-C. UV-C kind of rays doesn’t hit the earth and absorbed in the atmosphere especially in the ozone layer. It is always recommended getting Vitamin-D via sun exposure rather than taking Vitamin-D supplements. Vitamin D is extremely valuable for our bones, and lack of vitamin D can cause rickets. Vitamin D helps the body to absorb Vitamin C, which makes it essential for having healthy bones and immune system. Lack of vitamin D makes you venerable to many health problems like diabetes, few sort of cancers, heart diseases, hypertension, Schizophrenia and Tuber-culosis.

Sun rays also regulate some of hormones of body like serotonin and melatonin. Melatonin plays a crucial role in everyday body rhythm by maintaining mood, sleep and energy. This is the reason why some people feel happy when they come in daylight. Light therapy is used in treatment of insomnia, dry eyes, depression, male impotence and delayed orgasm.

UV-A rays produce a tan on your skin, that not only make your skin more attractive, but also prevents your skin from sunburn naturally. That is why tanning beds also provide UV-A and UV-B Rays.

Great information here - so many people stay away from the sun because we have been scared away by all of the skin cancer warnings.. And while they are not to be taken lightly, we DO need a little bit of that Vitamin D to keep healthy. -Lina
