What Is Dry Skin:It is the skin that feels tight and uncomfortable. Most common areas are lower legs, thighs, arms and flanks (sides of the abdomen). Scaling. Itching and cracks in the skin are the most common symptoms of dry skin. Causes Of Dry Skin:Dry skin is common. In low humid conditions, the risk of skin getting hard increase due the evaporation of moisture from skin to outside. It happens more often in the winter. High velocity air flow also assists in making your skin dry. As the skin loses moisture, skin gets irritated, inflamed and started peeling. Bathing too often with harsh soaps also contribute dryness. Eczema may cause dry skin. Home Care for dry Skin:Change your bathing habits: • Minimize using soap. Try to use face wash on face and areas more prone to dryness. • Dry your skin thoroughly but gently—pat, don’t rub • Take baths or showers less often Increase Skin and Body Moisture:• Include moisturizers and bath oils in daily routine. Thick, greasy moisturizers work best. Products with alcohol make your skin dry so avoid them. Apply moisturizer just after the shower when skin is still damp.
