In this fast paced modern lifestyle, we all search for a question – Do we really forgotten how to laugh? There is nothing better than a non-controllable laugh that comes from deep down from your heart. Research says that laughter has many long term health benefits. But we are gradually forgetting how to laugh as we age. Expert says that children laugh around 200 times in a day but for adults it drastically dropped to 15-20 times a day and in stressed days; it is even not a single time.
In our current life, stress induced health diseases are on rise. To reduce stress, most people opt for alcohol or drugs which further deteriorate their health. It is very important to know the health benefits of laughter as it will help you to achieve a healthy stress-free life.

How Laughing Works:

Studies say that when we laugh, we stretch out many muscles of our body as well as face. Laughing is a good exercise for heart as well as lungs. It also increases our breathing rate which means supply of more oxygen to the blood. Research also says that laughing is helpful in burning calories, strengthening our immune system, boosting energy level and protecting us from the harmful effects of stress.

Health Benefits of Laughter:

  • It increases the blood flow and oxygen supply which is very beneficial to combat against heart diseases like heart attack.
  • It lowers blood pressure and relaxes the whole body. It increase your energy and recharge your body.
  • It gives a workout to lungs, heart, face and back muscles.
  • It helps in reducing certain stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.
  • It strengthen our immunity system by improving the response of disease-killing cells such as Gamma-interferon and T-cells
  • Studies also say that laughing is beneficial in improving the memory and learning power.
  • It also lowers blood sugar level.

Other than these health benefits, laughter is a social activity, which connects us with our friends and family. Laughing attracts more people towards you, and more people around you, you laugh more. It promotes group bonding and strengthens relationship.
