Stroke Causes and Symptoms:Stroke or brain attack is a medical condition where blood supply to brain cells stopped for some reason. There are two types of strokes. One is ischemic stroke where blood supply to brain stops due to the formation of clot in blood vessel and the other one is hemorrhagic stroke where the blood supply to brain stops due to rupture of blood vessels. Either way, when the oxygen and nutrients supply to brain cells stops, they start dying. Symptoms of stroke depend on the area of the brain that is getting damaged as each area of brain controls different part of the body. Benefits of Turmeric in Stroke Treatment:Studies show that turmeric is tremendously useful in the prevention of strokes as well as heart attacks. Curcuminn, the yellow pigment of turmeric, which is an active ingredient of turmeric, is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It lowers cholesterol level in blood, and inhibits the oxidation of cholesterol (LDL). Oxidized cholesterol is responsible for deposits in blood vessel, which may form plaque and damage the blood vessels. Thus turmeric prevents the formation of deposits in blood vessels which are the main cause of stroke. Turmeric also prevent the formation of blood clots in damaged blood vessels and therefore useful in reducing the blockage of arteries. Turmeric also thin blood so it must be used after consultation with your doctor, if you on blood-thinning medication. Studies done on rabbits indicate that turmeric is able to re-generate the damaged cells affected due to stroke.
