We all love to quench our thirst with sugar and calorie filled aerated cold drinks, but these beverages are not suitable for health. There is a natural isotonic beverage that can be used in place of these cold drinks which have many health benefits and can do wonders with the body. Yes, we are talking about coconut water.  Doctors advised to take at least one coconut-water daily for pregnant women.

Coconut water contains a lot of electrolytes. It is filled with many minerals like potassium, magnesium and chloride. It also contains some sugar as sodium. The concentration of salt and sugar that it contains, met our body requirement and that is the reason why it is considered as a decent isotonic beverage. It contains abundant amount of potassium which helps in regulating the blood pressure. It also contains dietary fiber, riboflavin, calcium, manganese and Vitamin C.

Health benefits during pregnancy:

  1. It is immensely useful drink to clean stomach. It helps in fighting constipation. Constipation is the common problem during pregnancy and thus coconut water is extremely useful during pregnancy.
  2. It helps in digestion which is another common problem during pregnancy. It boosts sluggish digestion.
  3. It gives relief from acidity.
  4. It contains lauric acid which is known, for its antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. It helps our body to fight against various infections and boost immune system mother and the growing fetus.
  5. It flushes toxins from the body and clean urinary tract. During pregnancy, many women suffer from urinary-tract infections, and taking coconut water daily can assist in reducing the urinary tract problems.
  6. It re-hydrates the body and prevent from exhaustion. It replenishes the water and minerals demand of body.
  7. It keeps the body cool and maintains the body temperature.


So coconut water contains a wide range of health benefits that is why it is recommended by doctors for pregnant women to take at least one coconut water each day.
