There are many health problems which are terribly embarrassing and diarrhea is one of them. Running to toilet frequently due to lose bowl movement is truly discomforting. This problem can occur at any age,  and the most uncomfortable situation arise when the person suffering from it is not at home or traveling somewhere. In diarrhea, water along with salt and nutrients inside the stool is not absorbed properly and came out of the body in the form of watery bowels. Severe diarrhea is one of the major causes of infant deaths worldwide. It generally happens due to viral or bacterial infection. Diarrhea appears as a symptom in some diseases like cholera or dysentery, so it is always better to get diagnose for proper cause of diarrhea.

Causes of Diarrhea:

There are many causes of diarrhea but the most common one are:

  • The people with lactose intolerance disorder could not digest dairy product and any consumption of milk or dairy product result in bloating in the stomach and diarrhea.
  • Consuming artificial sweeteners such as such as hexitols, mannitol and sorbitol can result diarrhea.
  • Food poisoning can also lead to diarrhea. The bacteria like salmonella, E.coli and campylobacter are responsible for the diarrhea.

  • Other heath disorders like chron’s disease, thyroid problems and ulcerative colitis can also be the cause of diarrhea.
  • Some antibiotics can imbalance the proportion of good bacteria in the colon which may result in diarrhea.
  • Sometimes Stress, anxiety and menstruation lead to diarrhea.
  • Excessive consumption of apple or pear juice can also be the reason behind diarrhea.
  • Spicy, sweet, high fiber or greasy food can also cause diarrhea.

Diarrhea which last for one or two days is not bad because it the body’s method to flush out toxins, as well as bacteria from the digestive system. But you must seek a physician in case it lasts longer than 3 days. During diarrhea, body looses water and electrolytes so you must replenish it else you will end up in severe weakness.
