Amblyopia in Teens and Children – Patching Treatment

AmblyopiaAmblyopia is such kind of medical disorder where eyes looks physically normal but have faulty or low vision. It is commonly known as Lazy-eye. The problem can not be solved with glasses because the error doesn’t lie in eyes but in the brain. It is also believed that treatment of Lazy-eye should be done in early age below 8 years otherwise it will become incurable. Symptoms and Detection:Generally in Amblyopia, it is found that picture from one eye is clear and other eye is blurred. When our brain gets blurred signal from one eye, it tries to conceal that vision to produce a clear picture. In the long run, this suppression process results in permanent decrease in sight for that eye, which can not be cured with glasses. This is the reason why Amblyopia should be treated at early age. The detection of Amblyopia is children is difficult because children at the early age are not aware that they have a different vision with different eyes. Treatment of Amblyopia:General treatment of Amblyopia involves patching of one eye and eye exercises to make brain active.
In this therapy, vision correction is done through eye exercise. Lately, this therapy is becoming highly successful. The exercise involve in this treatment are made for improving eye-brain connection, which results in, better vision for weak eye.
